The state-owned enterprise "Moldovan Railways" reported that its specialized crews have completed work to restore the railroad track on the section between Cahul - Prut-2, which was damaged on September 13 when five open-top cars derailed. The scope of work included replacing damaged ties and rails, restoring the ballast layer, leveling and straightening the track, as well as verifying technical parameters and ensuring compliance with safety requirements necessary to resume train service. Train service on this section resumed on September 18 in compliance with all safety requirements.
