These messages feature state symbols and unlawfully mention the names of officials and government agencies. Recipients of such letters are asked to pay various fees, with the promise that an alleged inheritance left to them will then be transferred. The ministry emphasized that such documents have never been issued by Moldovan government agencies; furthermore, the ministry does not require payment of fees to receive funds or an inheritance, does not use Nova Post to send official correspondence (a scheme that was previously in use), nor does it request bank details, confirmation codes, or other confidential information via phone, email, or messaging apps.
