Specifically, on October 5, during the 10th meeting of the EU–Moldova Association Council, it was announced that the European Commission is allocating an additional 157 million euros to Moldova, thereby reaffirming the EU's support for the country's reform agenda. This third tranche under the Economic Growth Plan for Moldova is being allocated after the European Commission gave a positive assessment of our country's implementation of the 18 reforms outlined in the plan. These reforms cover all seven key areas: private sector development, economic sustainability, economic governance, social cohesion and the labor market, energy, the green transition, and good governance. With this payment, the total amount of funds provided to Moldova under the plan has reached 661 million euros. As noted by the European Commission, this latest disbursement demonstrates Moldova's unwavering commitment to advancing its reform agenda, transforming these reforms into new opportunities for citizens and businesses. The European Commission will continue to support Moldova in implementing the Economic Growth Plan. This instrument is designed to stimulate economic growth and job creation by accelerating reforms and expanding the country's access to the EU Single Market, thereby bringing Moldova closer to EU membership. "Today's disbursement recognizes Moldova's commitment to reforms and its determination to move forward on the path to EU integration. It demonstrates that these efforts are backed by concrete support from the European Union, which will have a real impact on the lives of Moldovan citizens," said Marta Cos, European Commissioner for Enlargement. As previously reported, in October 2024, the European Commission proposed an Economic Growth Plan for Moldova with a budget of 1.9 billion euros, based on the Reform and Economic Growth Facility for 2025–2027. This is the largest EU financial assistance package for Moldova to date. From 2021 to 2025, the EU allocated more than 1.2 billion euros to Moldova in the form of grants. This amount includes: direct budget support to ensure energy security and the transition to clean energy; assistance to 1.2 million households in paying their electricity bills; and support for judicial reforms aimed at strengthening the independence and improving the efficiency of the judicial system. // 05.10.2026 — InfoMarket
