For a child, a new backpack can mean the excitement of the first day at school, the joy of packing their school supplies and the feeling that they are ready to begin a new chapter.
This autumn, 200 children started school with just such a backpack, donated by maib, as part of the 10th edition of the national campaign "Backpack with a Future", organised by Caritas Moldova. Through this contribution, maib has joined an initiative which, this year, has reached 1,200 children from disadvantaged families across the country.
Doina Fetco, Marketing Director at maib, said:
"When we prepare a child for school, we're not just giving them school supplies. We're giving them a fresh start. The 200 backpacks donated by maib are 200 gestures through which we tell these children that they are seen, that they are supported, and that they deserve to pursue their dreams. We are delighted to be working alongside Caritas Moldova and to contribute to a start of the school year with more joy and fewer worries."
Edward Lucaci, Executive Director of Caritas Moldova, emphasised:
"Education affirms the dignity of every child and remains the surest way out of extreme poverty. Our partnership withmaib demonstrates that solidarity and social responsibility can transform lives when they become concrete actions. We are deeply grateful to the maib team for their commitment to children facing extreme vulnerability. This anniversary edition of the "Backpack with a Future" campaign confirms that, when we put the child at the centre, we can create real opportunities and break the cycle of poverty. This success motivates us to strengthen and expand our strategic partnership, so that we can reach even more children and build a community where education and equal opportunities become a reality."
Held from July 23 to August 15, the national campaign "Backpack with a Future" brought together people and companies who chose to turn generosity into tangible support for education. Under the slogan "You fill it with school supplies. Caritas Moldova fills it with hope", the campaign reached 1,200 children from disadvantaged families.
Through its corporate social responsibility portfolio, maib supports education, promotes financial literacy and contributes to social inclusion, guided by the conviction that when a child is given the chance to learn, society as a whole stands to gain.
