
In Moldova, in the second quarter of 2024, relative stability in economic activity and a moderate increase in prices for food and goods are expected.
This was reported by the National Bureau of Statistics, citing the results of a business survey conducted in the first quarter. As noted in the NBS, according to the surveyed managers, in the second quarter in Moldova the following is expected: relative stability of economic activity and the number of employees; moderate rise in prices for food and goods, especially in the manufacturing industry. In particular, manufacturing industry managers forecast an improvement in the economic situation and sales revenues for the second quarter; relative stability of the number of employees; moderate increase in prices for industrial products. According to managers of construction companies, during this period there will be relative stability in the economic situation and sales revenue; at the same time, the number of employees and prices for construction work will moderately decrease (in the short term). According to the survey, in the retail and services sector in the second quarter of 2024, the relative stability of the economic situation, sales income, number of employees will remain, and a moderate increase in sales prices is expected. Herewith, managers of most enterprises predict positive dynamics of all economic indicators. Micro-enterprises expect a negative trend in the number of employees, while managers of large enterprises expect a slight decrease in product sales prices. Most of the respondents surveyed reported that insufficient market demand, shortage of qualified personnel and financial problems are the biggest limitation to economic activity in January-March 2024 (from 20.6% to 30.4% of respondents selected these answer options). To a lesser extent, the economic activity of business is affected by the conflict in the region (14.3%).
