Moldova has achieved the first significant growth in industry since the beginning of the war in Ukraine - Dumitru Alaiba.
According to the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Moldova's industrial production grew by 10% in February 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. At the same time, the main growing sectors that brought such positive dynamics in February 2024 were: manufacturing industry (+17.1%); production of flour products (+50%); production of beverages (+20.2%); chemical industry (+65.9%); pharmaceutical industry (+27.3%); production of machinery and equipment (+27.1%); production of furniture (+18.1%); production of computers, electronic and optical products (+446%). According to Dumitru Alaiba, something interesting is happening in the latter sphere. "Overall, this is the first significant jump in the industry since the war in Ukraine began. It's too early to clap our hands, but we aim to maintain this positive dynamics. We are doing everything possible to support the development of the industry," wrote the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization. He recalled that last week, the Moldovan government approved the National Program of Industrial Development for 2024-2028. With its help, the authorities intend to increase the manufacturing industry's contribution to the GDP to 11.5% in the next 4 years, increase the volume of exported industrial products by 25% and increase the number of labor force in the industrial sector by 15%. "The implementation of the program will help us get a more competitive industry, create new jobs and stimulate the country's economic growth," stressed Dumitru Alaiba. // 22.04.2024 - InfoMarket.
