Tariffs for water supply and sewerage services have been reduced for all categories of Chisinau consumers.
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) reported this, noting that at a meeting on Tuesday, the ANRE Management Board approved lower tariffs for water supply and sewerage services from Apă-Canal Chișinău for household and non-household consumers. The calculations submitted by the operator were verified based on the principle that consumers bear only the justified costs necessary for the operator to operate in this field. After analyzing the request submitted by the operator and based on the analysis of the determined values, ANRE decided to approve a single tariff for public drinking water supply services for all consumers in the amount of 10.79 lei per cubic meter, which is 0.33 lei per cubic meter lower (-3%) than the tariff in force for household consumers, and for non-household consumers - 2.5 lei per cubic meter lower (-18.8%). According to ANRE, given the principles of economic justice, tariffs for water supply and sewerage services should be unified for all consumers. At the same time, the legislation also does not define differentiated tariffs. Under the conditions when previously local council decisions approved differentiated tariffs for different categories of consumers, ANRE, in case of tariff approval, applied the approach of gradual adjustment of tariffs for household consumers towards a single tariff, according to the annual adjustment of tariffs for providers of public water supply and sewerage services. The energy regulator emphasizes that, thus, the prerequisites for the exclusion of cross-subsidization and approval of a single tariff for the provision of public drinking water supply service are now in place. And in the case of public sewerage service, in order to avoid burdening household consumers, the agency has decided to maintain at the current stage differentiated tariffs for household and non-household consumers. In view of the above, the following tariffs were approved for the provision of public water supply and sewerage services by Apă-Canal Chișinău: for the public service of technological water supply - 8.11 lei per cubic meter; for public sewerage and wastewater treatment services: for household consumers - 4.18 lei/cubic meter; for non-household consumers - 10.16 lei/cubic meter. Tariffs for the production and transportation of water for redistribution by the Apă-Canal Chișinău enterprise in the branch points: with the municipality of Balţata – 3.33 lei/cubic meter; with the Balabanesti commune – 4.67 lei/cubic meter; with Truseni commune – 3.28 lei/cubic meter; with the village of Maximovca – 3.70 lei/cubic meter; in the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi water pipeline – 3.45 lei/cubic. In addition, ANRE approved tariffs differentiated by categories of consumers for the supply/provision of public water supply, sewerage and wastewater treatment services provided by Apă-Canal Anenii Noi - public drinking water supply services: for household consumers - 19.08 lei/cubic meter; for non-household consumers - 37.92 lei/cubic meter. Tariffs for public sewerage and wastewater treatment services will amount to 35.86 lei/cubic meter for household consumers; for non-household consumers - 39.35 lei/cubic meter. New tariffs will be applied from the date of publication in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova). // 10.10.2023 - InfoMarket.
