In 2022, Moldova's GDP is projected to decline by 3%, and the developed state budget for 2023 is designed to help overcome the effects of the country's multiple crises
This was stated by Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi, presenting in Parliament a draft law on the state budget for next year. He noted that this document was prepared in the face of unprecedented threats and challenges for Moldova, which were caused by three main external factors. It refers to the war of Russia against Ukraine, the rise in world prices, the intensification of the hybrid war against Moldova, propaganda, the spread of false news, cyber attacks, the restriction and cessation of gas supplies, an attempt by external forces to promote policies in Moldova that do not contribute to the development of the country. Dumitru Budianschi noted that 99% of the sources of inflation in Moldova are external: disruptions in supply and distribution networks, an energy crisis with interruptions in the supply of natural gas and electricity, a refugee crisis and security vulnerabilities, as well as adverse weather conditions in 2022 affecting the agricultural sector. As a result, both households and economic agents suffered, the purchasing power of the population decreased, and the real incomes of citizens decreased. The real sector was unable to compensate for lost income, to raise wages at the proper level. The average monthly salary increased by 14.5% with inflation of 29.3%. "This year, GDP is expected to decline by 3%. The same risks remain for 2023, except for adverse weather conditions," the Finance Minister said. According to him, for 2023 GDP growth is forecasted at 2%. “We can state that Moldova in 2023 will not be able to recover the losses of 2022 and will have GDP in real terms below the level of 2021 by about 1.1%. GDP will reach the level of 308.8 billion lei, exports will increase by only 1.4%, and imports by 3.2%. And the average salary in the economy is estimated at the level of 11,700 lei with an increase of 13.8%,” Dumitru Budianschi said. According to him, in 2023 inflation will continue to decline, reaching 6.7% at the end of the year, the indicator is estimated at 15.7%."The state budget proposed for approval has been drawn up taking into account the need to cover new expenses related to the consequences of the numerous crises that the country will experience in 2023, as well as create a basis for further development," Dumitru Budianschi said.. // 12.12.2021 — InfoMarket
