
Annual inflation in Moldova has decreased; in particular, in November 2022 inflation for the last 12 months was 31.41% against 34.62% in October.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported this, noting that monthly inflation in November was 1.02%, and in January-November 2022 - 29.26%. At the same time, in November last year, monthly inflation was 3.5%, annual inflation (over the last 12 months) was then 12.44%, and in January-November 2021 - 12.08%. According to the NBS, consumer prices in November 2022, compared to October 2022, increased by an average of 1.02%, against a background of rising food prices by 0.8%, non-food prices by 0.9%, as well as an increase in tariffs for services provided to the population by 1.53%. According to official statistics, in particular, in November 2022, compared to the previous month, a more pronounced increase in prices was observed for the following food products: eggs - 12%, vegetables - 5.5%, sugar - 3.8%, bread - 1.9%, milk and dairy products - 1.6%. At the same time, fruits went down in price by 9.7% and vegetable oil - by 0.6%. As for non-food products, in November 2022, compared to the previous month, prices for fuel and combustible have increased more significantly - by 1.2%. For services provided to the population in November 2022, compared to October 2022, prices/tariffs increased by an average of 1.53%, with a more pronounced increase in tariffs for housing and utilities services - an average of 2.5% (especially for electricity supply services - by 37.4%), which led to an increase in average consumer prices by about 1.2%. According to the NBS, following the government's provision of energy bill refunds for residential customers (natural gas, electricity, and heat), preliminary estimates show a decrease in gas prices/tariffs of about 49%, central heating of about 8.2%, and hot water of about 30.2% in November 2022, compared to October 2022. According to the NBS, overall inflation for January-November 2022 was 29.26%, with food prices up 30.2%, non-food prices up 19.92%, and tariffs for services provided to the population up 42.3%.
