Salaries of public sector employees will increase in 2023 and 3.7 billion lei will be allocated from the budget for this purpose.

This was announced by Minister of Finance Dumitru Budianschi in the program Rezoomat on RliveTV channel. According to him, since January 2023, the salaries of state employees will increase by 1300 lei. The amount of increase will be fixed. Such a measure is proposed to protect low-paid workers. If we raised salaries depending on the base rate, the increase for people who earn 4 thousand lei would be minimal. And for those with high salaries, the increase would have been proportionally higher. Therefore it was decided to grant this increase to all in the same fixed amount," said Budianschi. Thus, according to the minister, salaries of state employees, who receive 5 thousand lei, will rise up to 6.3 thousand lei, that is, by 20%, and the increase for those who receive 10 thousand lei will amount to 10-13%. In the budget of 2023, 3.7 billion lei will be allocated to increase salaries for state employees. At the same time, pensions will be indexed by 14.1% in April 2023, although by law they must be indexed by 30%. The Minister stressed that there is no possibility to index pensions by a larger amount in the budget so far, but depending on the budget revenues, the size of the indexation may be reviewed. As InfoMarket agency earlier reported, according to the draft state insurance budget, pensions are to be indexed by 14.1%, but only up to the forecasted average salary in the economy (11.700 lei). // 07.12.2022 – InfoMarket
