ANRE: The decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council to increase the tariffs for water supply and sewerage services is contrary to the legislation in force.
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) reported that the local authorities violated art.35 (5) of the Law on public water supply and sanitation, according to which tariffs are determined annually by the operator in accordance with the Pricing Methodology for tariffs for public water supply, sanitation and wastewater treatment services and are submitted to the agency for adjustment and to the local council for approval. At the same time, the legislation in force does not allow approval of temporary tariffs. As regards the legality of the decision taken by the Chisinau City Council, ANRE intends to address to the Chisinau branch of the State Chancellery, which is in charge of controlling the legality of decisions of the first and second level local councils. At the same time, ANRE will request the legal authorities to examine the actions of those responsible for the unjustified calculation and approval of tariffs through the prism of the Article of the Criminal Code of Moldova on the abuse of power or official authority. // 25.11.2022 - InfoMarket.
