Moldova, as a partner and candidate country for EU accession, receives substantial assistance from the EU in the field of energy efficiency.

This was announced by the EU Ambassador to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks in his public address on the occasion of the traditional European Sustainable Energy Week and the European Climate Diplomacy Week in Moldova, celebrated from 23 to 30 September. The priorities of these strategic initiatives this year are focused on greening and digitalization measures for a just energy transition, with energy efficiency being one of the pillars of this transition. Jānis Mažeiks emphasized that Moldova, as a partner and holder of the status of an EU candidate country, receives significant assistance in the field of energy efficiency, which already brings tangible results throughout the country, significantly reducing electricity and heat bills, creating better conditions for living, studying and work and much more. According to him, at the same time, the promotion of clean, safe and renewable energy sources remains a key priority for EU assistance to Moldova. In this regard, within the framework of the Economic Recovery Plan for Moldova, launched in June 2021, the EU provides significant assistance in the amount of about 600 million euros. Moldova is also included in the European Commission's REPowerEU plan, which was designed to urgently transform the European energy system due to the need to remove the EU's dependence on fossil fuels from Russia and the need to manage the climate crisis. The REPowerEU plan provides for energy conservation, renewable energy production and diversification of energy supply sources. // 26.09.2022 — InfoMarket.
