37 selected local action groups of Moldova will receive funding for their socio-cultural initiatives in 2022-2023.
The EU Delegation to Moldova reported this, noting that local entrepreneurs will also benefit from funding to create and expand local businesses. The total financing makes up 173.6 million lei to be granted by National Fund for Agricultural and Rural Development of Moldova. Moldova is currently the only country outside the European Union which implements the LEADER approach as a public policy instrument for rural development. LEADER is an EU initiative, a method and program for rural development, launched in 1991 and aimed at supporting local development of rural regions through a bottom-up, community-led approach to development. The EU has been supporting the LEADER approach in Moldova since 2016, and this initiative, which has proven to be sustainable and long-term, was transformed into a state program in June 2022, covering more than half of Moldova's territory. // 19.09.2022- InfoMarket.
