Marin Ciobanu, director of the Investment Agency, said at a press conference on Tuesday that this year one of the country's most important economic events will be held under the title "Moldova - a destination for business relocation and solutions for the regional supply chain". The VIII edition of Moldova Business Week will be a platform for the presentation of the investment offer of Moldova and for discussions between local and international experts, business representatives, state institutions and non-governmental organizations on opportunities and solutions to reposition Moldova at the international level. The event will be inaugurated by Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks, US Ambassador to Moldova Kent Logsdon, Romanian Prince Radu, and representatives of ministries and departments, heads of Giurgiulesti port and Constanta port, Railways of Moldova (CFM), business associations of Moldova, heads of Moldova’s universities, representatives of Gebauer & Griller, Molinart Grup, Endava, ADD, etc. are announced as speakers of the forum. Forum participants will discuss what steps Moldova should take as an EU candidate country and its prospects as a regional logistic hub. A separate panel will be devoted to education and training of specialists, including for investor companies. During the event, success stories of investors in Moldova will be presented, the advantages of the services and innovation sector will be discussed, and pitching sessions will be held for local companies from 8 sectors, which will present their investment profiles to potential investors and partners (companies from the agro-food, ICT, fashion industry, electronic industry, creative industries, deeptech and BPO, startups). Igor Stefanet, head of the Agency for investments attraction and protection, said that during the last three years, the volume of foreign investments in Moldova's economy was $95 million, 83% of them came from EU countries and reinvestments amounted to $283 million. He emphasized that annually the Agency's specialists negotiate with representatives of 150-180 companies who are interested in Moldova's investment offer. Only last year, in spite of restrictions and pandemics, representatives of 80 companies-potential investors visited Moldova. The most attractive sector is ICT, as such business is the easiest to relocate or organize in Moldova. At the same time, the high potential is in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector, creative industries, automotive and electronic industry, which have already managed to attract major American, German and Japanese corporations. The advantages of each sector, including tax ones, will be presented at the forum.
