The IMF mission, led by Ruben Atoyan, will begin discussions with the Moldovan authorities, including on a new program with the Fund, on September 27, 2021.
This was stated by the permanent representative of the International Monetary Fund in Moldova, Rodgers Chawani. According to him, the mission will discuss the authorities' request for a new program, which concerns policy measures for recovery from the pandemic and reforms in the field of public administration and institutional reforms. Also, the experts of the mission will hold discussions in the framework of the consultations for 2021, provided for in Art. IV-th of the Statute of the IMF. This article stipulates that bilateral consultations with all member countries are held annually (as a rule). An IMF mission travels to the country to collect economic and financial data and to discuss economic progress and policies with the authorities.
