According to the NBM, public debt and publicly guaranteed debt of the country in 9 months 2020 increased by $ 285.8 million, or 14.9% - from $ 1 billion 919.15 million (at the end of 2019) to $ 2 billion 204.95 million (at the end of September 2020), amounting to 27.7% of the total debt. Herewith, the private sector's unsecured debt increased over the same period by $ 248.4 million, or 4.5% - from $ 5 billion 496.93 million to $ 5 billion 745.33 million, and amounted to 72.3% of the total the amount of debt. In the structure of the total external debt of Moldova by sector, at the end of September 2020, the largest share of debt fell on non-financial societies - 41.3% of the total volume (0.3 percentage points more than at the end of June 2020). The overall growth of Moldova's external debt for 9 months in 2020 was caused by an increase in debt under the "Other Sectors" section - by 8.6% - from $ 3 billion 307.59 million (at the end of 2019) to $ 3 billion 591.05 million (at the end of September 2020), an increase in the debt of the public administration sector by 17.7% - from $ 1 billion 717.96 million to $ 2 billion 022.45 million, as well as an increase in the debt of commercial banks by 6.2% - from $ 306.97 million to $ 325.98 million.
