The broad financial education campaign carried out by the NBM with the support of USAID Moldova has achieved impressive goals, but this work should be continued - Anca Dragu said

This opinion was expressed by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova within the new edition of the regular “Give Sense to Money” podcast, produced at the initiative of the NBM with the support of the USAID program “Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity” to provide citizens with more detailed information on financial and economic topics. The head of the National Bank said that the main conclusion made at the recently held “National Forum on Financial Education” in Chisinau is that a very good work has been done, but it should be continued. “Financial education is not done in an hour, in a day, in a year, it is done every day, and we have to reach everyone, whether they are schoolchildren, students, pensioners, people who are already parents, have responsibilities, loans, needs. We have to reach each of these people and make sure they understand what interest, interest rate, credit, savings are,” Anca Dragu emphasized. According to her, it is important to know why sometimes it is better to wait a few months, a year or two to save and then buy what one need, to be responsible and not to spend all the money to repay the loan, not to become a prisoner of an asset that, at a certain point, you may not even need. “The conclusion is that yes, we have great results, we have trained a lot of young people who are ambassadors of this program. There are 24 wonderful young people who have spent hundreds of hours of financial education in their communities. But we must continue because it is the only way to make informed, sound financial decisions and turn every income into a source of joy, not pressure,” said the NBM Governor. //30.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
