The NBM signed a cooperation agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the development of digital financial services
The document was signed in Washington by Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), and Alfonso García Mora, Regional Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (member of the World Bank Group) for Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. According to a report from the National Bank of Moldova, the NBM Governor said that digital financial services can reduce transaction costs, increase processing speed, security and transparency. She noted that this year, NBM successfully launched the national project “MIA Instant Payments”, which is already very popular in Moldova, counting almost 400 thousand users, both individuals and economic agents. “This project represents more than a modernization, an adjustment to the requirements of the society at European level; it is a mechanism to increase the welfare of Moldova and, at the same time, to reduce economic inequalities. Access to fast and fully secure payment services contributes to increasing the level of financial inclusion,” Anca Dragu added. The participants in the meeting discussed topics related to Moldova's development - macroeconomic framework and medium-term prospects, the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) in Moldova, financial inclusion strategy, implementation of the IMF Program, as well as reviewed the World Bank's financial assistance. The meeting took place on the margins of the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, held in Washington. These meetings provide a platform for sharing experiences among member states and for further dialog on economic and financial development priorities. // 23.10.2024 - InfoMarket.
