The National Commission for the Financial Market is registering an increasing number of reports of bank fraud and asks citizens not to give information about their bank cards to anyone

The National Commission for the Financial Market notes that citizens are receiving calls from fraudsters posing as representatives of the bank where they have an account and reporting an alleged fraudulent withdrawal of money from the account. In this way, under the pretext of providing assistance, fraudsters obtain the necessary information to withdraw the money on the card. In order not to become a victim of such situations, the National Commission for the Financial Market asks citizens to remember that no bank employees will ever ask for confidential information about their bank cards: card number (in some cases, a bank representative may request only the last 4 digits); expiration date: month and year indicated on the card; CVV2/CVC2 code; card PIN code; passwords to access the online account; one-time codes (OTP) received by SMS to confirm the transaction. The NСFM urges you to be vigilant and never share the above information with anyone, even with people posing as bank employees or even family members. “If someone claims to need the above data, keep in mind that bank representatives already have access to this information and can block any suspicious transaction. If you doubt the identity of the caller, hang up and call the bank directly at the official phone number listed on the website or on the back of the card. Do not click on suspicious links. Do not click on links received by SMS or email, even if they seem to be sent from your bank. Activate the SMS notification service. This way, you will be immediately informed of any transaction made with your card,” the NCFM advises. They also recommend enabling the option to apply limits on card transactions. In the event of fraud, citizens will not be able to withdraw all the money on the card from their accounts. “Report any suspicious activity. If you suspect that you have become a victim of fraud, contact your bank immediately and ask them to block your card. Remember: banks constantly invest in security systems to protect you. However, it is important to be aware of the risks and take precautions to protect your money. If you are unclear about anything or you believe that your consumer rights have been violated, call the NCFM Consumer Hotline at 022 85 95 95," the National Commission for Financial Markets said in a statement. // 22.10.2024 — InfoMarket.
