More than 100 million lei were transferred using MIA Instant payments in less than 6 weeks after the launch of this new system by the National Bank of Moldova.
The NBM announced this, noting that MIA, developed by the National Bank of Moldova and provided through financial applications on mobile phones, already has more than 100 thousand users throughout the country. The new system, first launched in Moldova on March 12, has already been used to transfer approximately 100 million lei in approximately 100 thousand transactions. As noted by the NBM, the results achieved by the new payment platform in just 1.5 months after its launch exceeded the expectations of the developers. Director of the NBM Payments Department Victor Susu said that in the near future the system will be available to companies. At the first stage, it is available primarily to individuals. “The MIA system developed by the NBM was prepared for this kind of operations from the very beginning, but banks needed time to develop their services so that they could offer these opportunities to economic agents,” said Victor Susu. The MIA system allows people to transfer money within 15 seconds between all payment accounts, regardless of their payment operator, without giving third parties access to banking data, using only the phone number of the participants in the transactions. A big advantage is that the new transfer method does not require commissions until the total transfer amount reaches 10 thousand lei per month. For transfers after reaching this amount, small fees apply, which do not exceed 5 lei per transfer, regardless of the financial institutions involved. Currently, MIA Instant Payments allows 2 methods of money transfer: Instant transfer (P2P) and Request to pay (RTP request to pay). But the system will be expanded to payments via QR codes, payments via links in online stores, transfers between legal entities (B2B), payments to the government (P2G), transfers between own M2M accounts. // 22.04.2024 — InfoMarket.
