The volume of new loans in Moldova in February 2024 amounted to 4 billion 587.6 million lei, which is 23.4% more than in January.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, the share of loans issued in national currency amounted to 76.6% of the total amount, in foreign currency - 22.3%, and loans linked to foreign currency exchange rates - 1.1%. The volume of new loans in national currency amounted to 3 billion 513.9 million lei, an increase of 29.3% compared to the previous month. The volume of new loans issued in foreign currency, converted into lei, amounted to 1 billion 022.3 million lei, which is 5.5% more than the previous month. The volume of issued loans linked to foreign currency exchange rates amounted to 51.4 million lei, an increase of 62.4% compared to the previous month. From the point of view of the terms of loans issued, the most popular were loans for a period of 2 to 5 years (51.7% of the total volume of loans), where loans provided to legal entities accounted for the main share of 32.6% of the total volume of loans provided. The majority (63.3%) of new loans were provided by banks to non-financial commercial companies. The structure of loans to legal entities is dominated by loans for trade (34.7%). In February 2024, individuals took out loans for 1 billion 388.5 million lei, which is 28.7% higher than the previous month. At the same time, the majority of loans - in the amount of 910.7 million lei (+26.1% compared to the previous month), or 65.6% of the total volume, were consumer loans. Most of these loans (800.6 million lei) were provided in lei for a period of 2 to 5 years. Mortgage loans amounted to 471.1 million lei (+33.6% compared to the previous month), or 33.9% of the total volume of loans to individuals.
