Over 40 million lei were transferred through MIA Instant Payments in just 3 weeks after the launch of this new system by the National Bank of Moldova (NBM).
NBM reported this, noting that the said system, launched 3 weeks ago by the National Bank in order to optimize and modernize transactions, allows users of financial applications to transfer money between all bank and non-bank accounts in the country within a few seconds, simply by using the beneficiaries' phone number. The new payment and transfer method already has tens of thousands of users. They have benefited from the transfers that can be made non-stop. One of the main advantages of the system is that there are no transfer fees. The system does not charge payments until the total amount of 10 thousand lei per month is reached, and for transfers after this amount, the applied commission cannot exceed 5 lei per transfer, regardless of the financial institution from which it is made. Currently, MIA Instant Payments allows two methods of money transfer: Instant Transfer (P2P) and RTP request to pay. In the future, the system will be expanded to include payments via QR codes, link payments to online stores, business-to-business (B2B) transfers, payments to the government (P2G), and M2M transfers. The MIA system can be activated simply and quickly, in any financial application in Moldova, by confirming only the phone number and the main account from which transfers can be made or received. Those who wish can change the basic account at any time by activating the system in a new application. MIA Instant Payments is developed by NBM to provide citizens with a fast, safe and efficient way of making transactions. The system is provided through mobile applications of all banking and non-banking institutions in Moldova. // 03.04.2024 - InfoMarket
