The NBM opened the Global Money Week with an innovative initiative to bring young people closer to the world of finance.
In particular, Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), opened the doors to the pupils of the "Aristotle" Theoretical Lyceum, who wanted to learn how decisions are made in the field of monetary policy. The pupils prepared information about the situation in the external environment, economic activity in the country, inflation dynamics and its forecast, based on data related to the situation of the last month, and presented them in an interactive activity simulating a monetary policy meeting. The students performed their roles as first vice governor and vice governor, secretary of the executive committee and representatives of central bank departments with great responsibility, actively participating in debates and formulating monetary policy recommendations. The event culminated in a question and answer session where students were able to ask the Governor and the NBM team questions while learning different aspects of economics and finance. "Financial literacy is very important for the young generation. We need to enable our descendants to develop the skills and behaviors, necessary financial knowledge to have prosperity and a good life. That is why today we, those who work in this field, must do everything in our power to offer them all educational opportunities," said Anca Dragu during the exercise held for the first time at the NBM. For their part, the Lyceum students were enthusiastic about this educational experience, emphasizing that it not only gave them a deep understanding of the mechanisms and problems of monetary policy, but also provided an opportunity to demonstrate the importance of financial education from an early age. "By involving young people in decision-making processes, we offer them not only a real perspective on the importance of monetary policy, but also inspire them to become responsible and well-informed citizens able to contribute to the sustainable development of the economy," said the NBM Governor. The event was part of a series of events planned by the National Bank within the Global Money Week, which is held from March 18 to 24. Also, master classes organized in partnership with the Independent Think-Tank Expert Grup, within the national campaign "Financial Education for All", as well as a visit to the NBM exhibition hall were held at the National Museum of History of Moldova. Other interactive events on financial topics for children and young people will be held during this week, organized both at the National Bank and at the National Museum of History of Moldova. // 19.03.2024 - InfoMarket.
