In Moldova in 2023, the number of P2P transfers from card to card amounted to 13 million 980 thousand 480, exceeding the figures for 2022 by 66.3%, and 2021 - by 460%.
Such data was presented by the director of the NBM Payments Department, Victor Șușu, during the launch ceremony of the national instant payment system MIA, developed by the National Bank. As noted, in 2022 the number of P2P transfers from card to card amounted to 8 million 408 thousand, and in 2021 - 2 million 494 thousand 375. Victor Șușu noted that, at the same time, 96.8% of P2P transfers from card to card are carried out within the same payment service provider. In particular, most P2P transactions are carried out within the same bank, due to considerations of the cost of these transactions. At the same time, according to him, the launch of the MIA instant payment system will provide advantages such as speed, security, and simplicity. Everyone will benefit from the MIA instant payment system: individuals, businesses, and the government. “This is a solution for all people. The project lasted 2 years, from its inception to launch.
