The NBM will intensify efforts to develop financial intermediation in Moldova.

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) reported this, noting that its Governor Anca Dragu invited experts from the economic sector to a dialogue in order to find solutions to revitalize financial intermediation in Moldova. The informal meeting took place in conditions when the current level of financial intermediation in Moldova is considered extremely low. According to the NBM, the meeting is a continuation of the dialog with the civil society, initiated by the Governor of the National Bank in January, in order to address topics aimed at boosting Moldova's economic development. During the meeting, international expert Dumitru Vicol proposed strategies to stimulate financial intermediation, inspired by the success of some regional models, while the representative of the Watchdog community, Sergiu Tofilat, shared concerns related to the new energy problems and their impact on inflation. Anca Dragu emphasized the importance of banks and companies working together to identify the most efficient ways to meet the supply and demand of credit. "This is necessary to stimulate the economy and ensure the country's financial stability," said the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova. The participants had a constructive dialog on how to stimulate entrepreneurial initiative and ensure sustainable economic development in Moldova. "It is very important that we continue these discussions and work together to create a financial system that meets the needs of all economic agents," Anca Dragu concluded. Representatives of the Monetary Policy, Financial Stability, Banking Supervision, Payment Systems, Financial Markets, Regulation and Authorization, Economic and Applied Research Departments of the National Bank of Moldova also participated in the discussions. //14.03.2024 - InfoMarket.
