
The volume of new term deposits in Moldova in December 2023 amounted to 5 billion 924.6 million lei, up by 60.7% compared to November 2023.
According to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), the share of deposits attracted in lei (MDL) amounted to 61.5%, in foreign currency - 38.5%. In particular, the volume of deposits attracted in national currency amounted to 3 billion 644.6 million lei, up by 47.2% compared to the previous month. At the same time, the volume of funds attracted in foreign currency, recalculated in Moldovan lei, amounted to 2 billion 279.9 million lei, exceeding by 88.4% the indicators of the previous month. In terms of terms of placement, the largest share accounted for deposits attracted for the term from 2 to 5 years – 38.9% of the total volume of term deposits, and deposits attracted for the term from 6 to 12 months – 38.7% of the total volume. Deposits of individuals in December 2023 amounted to 3 billion 730.7 million lei, up by 38.5% as compared to the previous month. At the same time, deposits of individuals in lei in December 2023 increased by 35.1% compared to the previous month - up to 2 billion 454.8 million lei, while in foreign currency - increased by 45.5% - up to 1 billion 275.9 million lei (in equivalent). Deposits of legal entities in December 2023, as compared to the previous month, increased 2.2 times - up to 2 billion 189.8 million lei. At the same time, legal entities’ deposits in national currency in December 2023, compared to the previous month, increased by 80% - up to 1 billion 185.8 million lei, while in foreign currency - increased 3 times - up to 1 billion 004 million lei (in equivalent). // 23.01.2024 – InfoMarket
