According to the National Bank of Moldova, at the same time, the share of loans issued in national currency amounted to 74.4% of the total amount, in foreign currency - 24.5%, and loans linked to the foreign currency exchange rate - 1.1%. The volume of new loans in national currency amounted to 4 billion 076.3 million lei, up by 17.9% as compared to the previous month. The volume of new loans issued in foreign currency, converted into lei (MDL), amounted to 1 billion 342.8 million lei, up by 12.1% as compared to the previous month. The volume of issued credits pegged to the foreign currency exchange rate amounted to 60.6 million lei, down by 11% as compared to the previous month. As far as the terms of issued loans is concerned, the most demanded were loans for the term from 2 to 5 years (51.1% of the total volume of loans), where loans granted to legal entities constituted the main share of 36.6% of the total volume of issued loans. The majority (68.9%) of new loans were granted by banks to non-financial commercial companies. Loans to legal entities are dominated by trade loans (40.8%). In December 2023, individuals took loans worth 1 billion 256.6 million lei, down by 0.4% compared to the previous month. At the same time, most of the loans - worth 844.4 million lei (-1.1% vs. the previous month), or 67.2% of the total volume, were consumer loans. Most of these loans (736 million lei) were granted in lei for terms of 2 to 5 years. Mortgage loans amounted to 406.7 million lei (+2.9% versus the previous month), or 32.4% of the total volume of loans to individuals.
