As noted in the department, according to the National Bank of Moldova, non-cash payments of Moldovan citizens increased significantly in 2020, especially non-cash payments on e-commerce platforms. Thus, more and more consumers in Moldova are shopping online. According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, in particular, in 2020 non-cash payments on cards issued in Moldova amounted to 70.3 million payments for 21.8 billion lei. Of the total number of non-cash payments, about 11 million payments were made without the physical presence of the card, on e-commerce platforms, which amounted to 15.7%, of which 2.7 million transactions were performed on e-commerce platforms in Moldova, and 8.3 million transactions committed on overseas e-commerce platforms. The value of these payments amounted to 4.8 billion lei, of which 1.2 billion lei were purchases on e-commerce platforms in the country (an increase of 50% compared to 2019) and 3.6 billion lei (a decrease of 7.6% compared to 2019) - purchases on e-commerce sites abroad. As noted in the industry department, at the same time, in 2020 the number of e-commerce platforms in Moldova increased by 28.7% compared to 2019, reaching 525 platforms at the end of 2020 compared to 408 in 2019. This is also connected with the adopted incentive measures from the Roadmap of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure to accelerate the process of digitalization of the national economy and the development of e-commerce. The ministry stressed that the adoption of the priorities of the Roadmap, political support from the government and technical support generously provided by development partners made it possible to quickly implement important initiatives in the field of remote interaction and promotion of digital services for business, the use of e-commerce tools for small and medium-sized enterprises, simplification of customs and postal procedures. //12.07.2021 — InfoMarket.
