
Moldova’s total debt to bilateral creditors decreased in the first quarter of 2021 by $38.19 million (-20.5%), amounting to $147.94 million at the end of March.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, at the same time, the largest bilateral creditor of our country in the first 3 months of this year turned out to be Japan with a share of 37.2% of the total debt, and the second place was taken by Austria with 14.8% of the total debt. The three leaders on this indicator are closed by the United States with a share of 13.7% of the total volume of bilateral debt. In particular, in January-March 2021, Moldova's bilateral debt to Japan decreased by 8.1% - from $59.91 million (at the end of 2020) to $55.08 million (at the end of the first quarter of 2021), to Austria - decreased by 5.3% - from $23.14 million to $21.91 million, and to the United States - decreased by 3.6% - from $20.95 million to $20.2 million. During the same period, Moldova's bilateral debt to Russia decreased by 21.6% - from $25.41 million to $19.92 million, and to Romania - decreased almost 2.3 times - from $42.95 million to $19.07 million.
