
The volume of new loans in Moldova in February 2021 amounted to 2 billion 673.2 million lei, which is 12.5% more than in February 2020.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, the share of loans issued in national currency amounted to 74.1% of the total amount, in foreign currency - 24.4%, and loans pegged to the foreign exchange rate - 1.5%. The volume of new loans in national currency amounted to 1 billion 981.1 million lei, an increase of 42.2% compared to the previous month, as well as an increase of 21.7% compared to February 2020. The volume of new loans issued in foreign currency, converted into lei, amounted to 652.8 million lei, which is 0.4% more than in the previous month, but 6.4% less than in February 2020. The volume of loans issued pegged to the foreign exchange rate, amounted to 39.3 million lei, decreasing by 44.3% compared to the previous month, and compared to February 2020, the indicator decreased by 21.7%. In terms of the terms of loans issued, the most demanded were loans for a period of 2 to 5 years (53.4% of total loans), where loans to legal entities accounted for the share of 34.7% of the total provided loans. Loans in national currency were mainly loans to legal entities (53.6% share), while loans to non-financial commercial companies accounted for 48.6% of the total (49% of them were issued for trade).
