Moldova will take new measures to further promote non-cash payments and facilitate the provision of payment services to e-commerce organizations.

According to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), this was discussed during the annual meeting, which was held online by the National Payments Council to summarize the results of its activities in 2020. The meeting was attended by representatives of banks and non-bank payment service providers, the National Bank of Moldova, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Finance, the State Tax Service, the Electronic Governance Agency, the Single Central Depository and the Association of Banks of Moldova. The agenda of the discussion included, in particular, the indicators of the national payment system in 2020 and the evolution of a number of projects in this area. Thus, the experts exchanged ideas on projects for the development of non-cash payments in Moldova - the Project for the Modernization of the NBM Automated Interbank Payment System and the Project for the Implementation of the Instant Payment Schemes. The meeting participants also touched upon the preparation of a draft law for the transposition of the legal provisions of Directive (EU) N2015 / 2366 (PSD2) into the national legislation and the provision of legal prerequisites for local organizations to join payment systems within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). Topics discussed also focused on actions taken by members of the National Payments Council to improve financial inclusion in the context of promoting non-cash payments and supporting e-commerce. President of the National Payments Council, First Vice President of the NBM, Vladimir Munteanu, emphasized the importance of taking multilateral and balanced measures to further promote non-cash payments with a positive effect for all parties involved, as well as the importance of joint efforts to facilitate the provision of payment services to e-commerce organizations. The National Payments Council is a high-level professional consultation forum between public and private institutions, the ultimate goal of which is to promote the efficient and stable functioning of the payment system in Moldova. // 11.01.2021 - InfoMarket.
