Remittances from EU countries in favor of individuals of Moldova through banks amounted to $64.88 million in November 2020, having increased by 27% compared to September 2019.

The National Bank of Moldova informed that, the dynamics of this indicator was influenced by Brexit, since as a result of the UK's exit from the European Union, the volume of transfers from the EU in November 2020 turned out to be $10.65 million less, and the amount of transfers to RM from the group other states outside the EU and the CIS increased by the corresponding amount. As the NBM notes, if we compare the indicator of money transfers to Moldova from the EU countries in November 2020 with the volume of transfers from the EU in November 2019, from which transfers from Great Britain are excluded, then we can state a 52% increase in transfers. At the same time, the Brexit effect led to an 8.1 percentage point increase in the share of transfers to Moldova from other countries, which now includes the UK. According to the NBM, the analysis of the geographical origin of remittances to Moldova shows that in general, the EU countries in November 2020 accounted for 49.2% of the total volume of remittances to Moldova through banks, the CIS countries - 12.8%, other countries - 38%. // 30.12.2020 - InfoMarket.
