This was announced by the President of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armasu, answering the question of the InfoMarket agency regarding the financial contribution of the banking sector to support economic agents in the current difficult conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis by providing them with benefits in the payment of loans, deferred payments, credit restructuring, etc. etc. The head of the National Bank noted that in the difficult crisis conditions caused by the pandemic, the banks of Moldova were receptive and provided an opportunity to defer payments to both legal entities and individuals. The President of the NBM stressed that, in particular, from legal entities were received 1009 applications for deferred payments for 5 billion 254 million lei (20% of the loan portfolio of legal entities in the sector). 891 (88%) of these requests were satisfied for 4 billion 813 million lei. At the same time, the balance of approved loans accounted for 18% of the loan portfolio of legal entities in the sector.
