Remittances from EU countries in favor of individuals of Moldova through banks in October 2020 amounted to $66.63 million, having increased by 20.5% compared to September 2019.

The National Bank of Moldova informed that, at the same time, the dynamics of this indicator was influenced by Brexit, since as a result of the UK's exit from the European Union, the volume of transfers from the EU in October 2020 was $10.98 million less, and the amount of transfers from the group of other states, non-EU and CIS countries, increased by the corresponding amount. As noted by the NBM, if we compare the indicator of money transfers to Moldova from the EU countries in October 2020 with the volume of transfers from the EU in October 2019, from which transfers from the UK are excluded, then we can state an increase in the amount of transfers by 44.5%. At the same time, the Brexit effect led to an increase of 9.1 percentage points in the share of transfers to Moldova from other countries, which now includes the UK. According to the NBM, an analysis of the geographical origin of remittances to Moldova shows that in general, the EU countries accounted for 48.8% of the total volume of remittances to Moldova through banks in October 2020, and the CIS countries accounted for 13.4%, other countries - 37.8%. // 01.12.2020 - InfoMarket.
