The new coins were presented during an online conference organized by the National Bank. NBM President Octavian Armasu informed that in the series “Outstanding Personalities” the coins “Valentina Rusu Ciobanu - 100th anniversary of birth” (circulation - 250 pcs) and “Alexandru Ioan Cuza - 200th anniversary of birth” (300 pcs) were issued. By one coin was issued in six series: “600 years since the founding of the Varzaresti Monastery” - 300 pcs. (series "Monasteries of Moldova"); Paul Bran - 80th Birthday Anniversary - 250 pcs. (Series "Science and Achievements"); "Butterfly Machaon / Papilio machaon L.)" - 300 pcs. (series "Red Book of the Republic of Moldova"); "Traditional ornament" - 400 pcs. ("Holidays, Culture, Traditions of Moldova"); Wines of Moldova - 500 pcs. (Series "Others"); Wallet with two coins - 300 pcs. (series "Children's Tales"). The nominal value of the coins is 50 lei each, seven of them are issued from silver, one is from a tombac with a silver coating. The sale of commemorative coins will be carried out through the National Bank of Moldova and licensed banks, which independently set the sale price for commemorative coins, but it cannot exceed by more than 3% the price set by the NBM. In the national economy, commemorative coins are a means of payment and are accepted at their face value.
