Moldova and Romania will expand cooperation to implement projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure, transportation, and digital networks

This was discussed during a meeting held in Bucharest between Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Romanian President Nicușor Dan. The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, expanding joint projects, and Romania’s unwavering support for Moldova’s European course. The parties discussed common priorities on which they should focus for the benefit of the citizens of both countries. Nicușor Dan noted that during this challenging period at the regional and international levels, Moldova can always count on Romania’s support, whether regarding EU accession, ensuring energy security, or enhancing resilience in the face of hybrid threats. According to him, Moldova and Romania have many major projects that are bringing increasing stability to bilateral relations. Thus, cross-border interconnection projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure, transport, and digital networks are particularly important for strengthening Moldova’s ties with the European Union via Romania. During his dialogue with the Prime Minister of Moldova, the President of Romania conveyed to him that he encourages increased Romanian investment, which creates jobs in Moldova, and supports the continuation of domestic reforms and the strengthening of institutions. “Moldova is and will remain an important priority for Romania. We will continue to support its integration into the European Union and the convergence of our economies,” noted Nicușor Dan. In turn, Alexandru Munteanu highlighted the assistance provided in Moldova’s modernization process, stating that Romania remains one of our country’s key partners in advancing reforms, deepening economic cooperation, and implementing projects that enhance the security and prosperity of citizens. “We are working shoulder to shoulder, united by a single goal: to see Moldova firmly established within the wider European family. I am confident that, together with such reliable friends and partners as Romania, Moldova is moving forward,” declared Alexandru Munteanu. Officials emphasized that in the context of the serious challenges triggered by Russia’s war against Ukraine, close cooperation on energy and infrastructure connectivity projects is vital for common security. Investments in high-voltage power lines, along with the modernization of schools and universities and support for competitive businesses, constitute a decisive response in the name of stability in the region. The importance of connections between the two markets and the expansion of Romanian investments in the national economy was emphasized. // 01.04.2026 — InfoMarket
