The World Bank may launch new joint projects in Moldova to develop the agricultural sector and expand existing ones - the Ministry of Agriculture
This was discussed during a meeting between Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga and a World Bank delegation led by Sameh Naguib Wahba, Director for Sustainable Development in Europe and Central Asia. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the meeting discussed the World Bank's support to Moldova in the agricultural sector, as well as the possibility of launching and expanding new projects. The parties noted that cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the World Bank has advanced over the past year, contributing to support for strategic investments in this sector. Investment opportunities for modernizing and expanding irrigation systems were also analyzed to ensure agricultural producers' access to water resources and support increased productivity and competitiveness in the sector. Measures to strengthen biosecurity, develop value chains in agriculture and the food industry, and support for aligning products with European standards in the context of Moldova's European integration goals were also discussed.
