Moldova’s entire territory is included in the list of countries authorized to export poultry products to the EU

According to the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA), fresh poultry and poultry products can be exported to the European Union from the entire territory of Moldova in accordance with the European Commission's decision of February 6. Previously, Moldova could only export poultry meat and poultry meat products from certain regions of the country that were not affected by outbreaks of avian influenza. In particular, on February 6, the European Commission adopted a document updating the list of third countries authorized to supply the EU market with fresh poultry meat and poultry meat products. This happened after ANSA provided official guarantees that there had been no outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the regions of origin of meat and poultry products intended for export for at least 12 months. The inclusion of Moldova in the EU Regulation, as ANSA points out, will facilitate producers' access to the expanded EU consumer market and will encourage further alignment with public standards in the field of animal health and food safety. The agency notes that this is an important step for the national agri-food sector and for expanding access to the European market. It is worth noting that Moldova first obtained the right to export processed poultry meat and category A eggs (for consumption) to the EU in March 2023. From April 30, 2024, the European Commission officially authorized the export of fresh (chilled and frozen) chicken meat from Moldova to EU countries. In November 2024, the first export of poultry meat from Moldova to the EU market was actually registered. // 12.02.2026 — InfoMarket
