The total volume of foreign direct investment in Moldova at the end of September 2025 amounted to $6 billion 257.31 million, up 14.4% (+$786.55 million) compared to the situation at the end of 2024

These data are contained in the materials of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) on the country's international investment position. As noted, foreign direct investment in equity capital at the end of September 2025 amounted to $4 billion 337.97 million ($69.3% of total investments), up 20.7% compared to the end of 2024, while debt instruments amounted to $1 billion 919.34 million (30.7%), up 2.3%. In terms of the geographical distribution of direct investments in equity capital (in the form of participation and accumulated shares, including reinvested income), investors from EU countries accounted for $3 billion 671.1 million of investments (+18.8% compared to the end of 2024) at the end of September 2025, while other non-CIS countries accounted for $682.96 million (+28.9%). At the same time, direct investments in the form of shares and stocks from the CIS at the end of September 2025 had a negative value of minus $16.09 million (at the end of 2024 - minus $25.6 million). An analysis of direct investments – equity capital accumulated as of the end of September 2025, by sector, shows that the largest volume was in the following sectors: financial activities and insurance – 32.1% of the total volume; wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles – 27.4%; manufacturing – 17.9%; information and communications – 5.2%; real estate transactions – 5%; transport and storage – 3.7%; electricity and heat energy, gas, hot water, and air conditioning - 3.2%; professional, scientific, and technical activities - 1.7%; health and social protection - 1.5%; agriculture, forestry, and fishing - 1.3%.// 05.01.2026 — InfoMarket
