Moldova is expected to register GDP growth of around 2.7% in 2025 - the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization

Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Eugen Osmochescu, announced this at a press conference, noting that this forecast had been confirmed by our country's international development partners, including IMF experts. Eugen Osmochescu emphasized that the expected GDP growth of 2.7% in 2025 reflects an acceleration of economic growth against the backdrop of stabilization over a fairly long period of time due to objective factors in recent years: the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. It is assumed that the agricultural sector will make the main contribution to GDP growth in 2025, with the agriculture sector expected to grow by approximately 15%. Growth of 8% is expected in the construction sector and 3% in industry. The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization noted that this confirms the previously expressed ideas about the need to reorient Moldova's economy from consumption to innovation and production. Eugen Osmochescu acknowledged that the 3% growth in industry is quite small, but it is still a step forward compared to previous years. He recalled that in the third quarter of 2025, Moldova's GDP growth was 5.2%, which confirms the positive trend of Moldova's economic growth. As previously reported, Moldova's GDP in January-September 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, grew by 2% in real terms to 257 billion 347 million lei. According to preliminary estimates by the National Bureau of Statistics, gross domestic product in the third quarter of 2025 increased by 5.2% in real terms compared to the third quarter of 2024, reaching 102 billion 055 million lei. The budget for 2026 was drawn up taking into account the forecast GDP growth of 2.4% next year, to 377 billion lei. // 30.12.2025 — InfoMarket
