The inclusion of Moldova in the “Roam Like at Home” regime demonstrates the unprecedented openness that our country enjoys from the EU - Alexandru Munteanu
As Prime Minister noted, for two days now, Moldovan citizens traveling in the EU have been able to talk on the phone just like at home, without paying roaming charges. Calls, SMS, and mobile internet are available at the usual rate without additional costs, both for Moldovan citizens traveling to European countries and for citizens of European countries visiting Moldova. “The EU Council's decision to include Moldova in the “Roam Like at Home” regime from January 1, 2026, demonstrates the enormous efforts of our institutions to truly integrate us into the European family, as well as the unprecedented openness we enjoy from European institutions. Moldova is moving forward!” emphasized Alexandru Munteanu. In turn, the National Agency for Regulation in Electronic Communications and Information Technology noted that the “Roam Like at Home” regime, which will come into force for our country on January 1, 2026, will contribute to increasing Moldova's digital integration into the EU, reducing communication barriers for citizens, and stimulating regional interconnection. This achievement is an important step in Moldova's integration into the European single digital market, contributing to increased mobility of citizens, facilitating cross-border communication and supporting the business environment, as well as promoting educational exchanges, economic development, and tourism. // 02.01.2026 — InfoMarket
