Moldova will receive an artificial intelligence antenna (Antena IA) and become part of the European network of “artificial intelligence factories”
As announced by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, Moldova is officially joining the European initiative AI Factories (a strategic program of the European Union aimed at developing and using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructures). Our country will be represented by FAIMA, an artificial intelligence factory antenna from Moldova, one of 13 antennas selected by EuroHPC (European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking). This initiative aims to expand the European network of “artificial intelligence factories” that provide access to supercomputers, secure data resources, and infrastructures for AI research and innovation. For Moldova, FAIMA represents a strategic opportunity to connect the scientific, entrepreneurial, and public communities to European supercomputing resources, facilitating the country's transition to a technology- and innovation-based economy. The European Union is investing around €55 million in new antennas, to which will be added contributions from the countries participating in the EuroHPC initiative. Each antenna will work in coordination with one of the existing artificial intelligence factories in Europe, providing researchers, entrepreneurs, and government agencies with access to supercomputing resources optimized for AI applications. In the case of Moldova, FAIMA will be connected to the PIAST artificial intelligence factory in Poland, which will ensure the exchange of experience, technical support, and cross-border cooperation between the region's innovation ecosystems. “Thanks to FAIMA, Moldova is taking a decisive step towards integration into the European digital innovation network. This is a real opportunity for researchers, startups, and companies to access cutting-edge computing resources and develop AI solutions with economic and social impact,” said Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor. “The launch of FAIMA is an important step for Moldova in strengthening its research and innovation capacity in the field of artificial intelligence. Access to cutting-edge infrastructure will enable students, researchers, and startups in our country to develop world-class technological solutions,” emphasized Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun. To date, EuroHPC has acquired 11 state-of-the-art supercomputers distributed across Europe. Thanks to the Artificial Intelligence Factory network and new antennas, EuroHPC is creating an interconnected ecosystem that will enable collaboration, resource sharing, and knowledge transfer between European countries. This will give Moldovan researchers and companies direct access to high-performance computing infrastructures and enable them to participate in pan-European research and innovation projects. The launch of FAIMA marks an important milestone in Moldova's digital integration process. The project strengthens technological cooperation with the EU and opens up new opportunities for academia, IT companies, and innovative startups. // 15.10.2025 – InfoMarket.
