A fund to support digital innovation and tech startups is being set up in Moldova

The government approved the relevant resolution at a meeting on Tuesday. The document sets out the fund's operating procedures, from financing principles to reporting. The new fund will allow Moldova IT Park residents to invest in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, government technology, biotechnology, agrotechnology, cloud technology, and robotics. The creation of such a fund will increase the competitiveness of IT companies, provide support to small and medium-sized enterprises in the IT sector, attract investment from the Diaspora, create high-tech jobs, develop research, innovation, and IT product exports, and strengthen Moldova's role as a regional IT hub. The fund will be managed by the Moldova IT Park administration. The Digital Innovation Support Fund will be financed mainly from external sources, as well as from the state budget and donor programs. The coordinating committee of the new fund will approve the rules for subsidizing IT projects, accept applications, and approve support. The fund will undergo an annual audit. The project approved by the government also includes a number of changes that will modernize the activities of Moldova IT Park. These include the introduction of clearer administrative mechanisms and rules to avoid blockages in the decision-making process, updating the powers of the Park Council, full digitization of the registration process, and the procedure for calculating the mandatory annual fee (paid to the Park administration). Moldova IT Park has more than 2,300 residents from 42 countries, and the turnover of companies in 2024 exceeded 15 billion lei, with about 90% of sales being exported. More than 24,000 people are employed by Moldova IT Park resident companies. //26.08.2025 – InfoMarket.
