Moldova has announced its first tender for the design and construction of waste management infrastructure in the Ungheni, Calarasi, and Nisporeni districts (RMD5)
This was announced by Environment Minister Sergiu Lazarenсu, who noted that the Ministry is moving from plans to action and, after lengthy preparations, is ready to begin work on the ground. According to him, residents of these districts will be the first to switch from old methods to a modern system of separate collection and efficient waste management. All economic agents from the country and abroad that meet the requirements are invited to participate in the tender. The announcement of the launch of the tender has been published on the platform of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). It should be noted that the EBRD is financing the Moldova Solid Waste Project with a €25 million loan for the development of waste management infrastructure, including the purchase of equipment for transportation, sorting, recycling, and composting; the closure of unauthorized landfills; and the construction of regional landfills that meet EU standards. Moldova will also receive a €1.6 million grant from the EBRD to improve its solid waste management system. The Moldova Solid Waste Project provides for the creation of six waste management regions. Each region will have a recycling and environmental management center, which will include sorting, composting, and transshipment stations. The project also provides for the purchase of equipment and vehicles needed for waste collection, transportation, and recycling, as well as the closure of unauthorized landfills, thereby contributing to the protection of the environment and public health. // 05.07.2025 — InfoMarket
