MIA instant payments are now available for 120 government services
The Moldovan government and the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) have launched a P2G (Person-to-Government) feature in the MIA instant payment system. This innovation changes the way citizens interact with the state, allowing them to pay for more than 120 public services instantly, securely, and without commission directly through mobile applications: no trips to cash desks, no bureaucracy, no wasted time. The new feature, integrated through the government's electronic payment service (MPay), makes more than 120 government services available for instant payment, including tuition fees, road use, health care contributions, fines for offences, taxes and fees, etc. Transactions can be made directly from your phone using the new P2G feature of the MIA instant payment system, integrated into the EVO app and the Mpay platform. You no longer need to provide your payment details—confidential information that is not always at hand—to make a payment. Now, simply select the MIA option, and the transaction will be completed in a few seconds from any banking app. The new feature was launched on July 31 during a public event attended by representatives of the government, the National Bank, state institutions, the financial sector, FinTech experts, and development partners. Prime Minister Dorin Recean and NBM Governor Anca Dragu, who opened the event, emphasized the importance of continuing the digital transformation for the benefit of citizens and the business environment. "With the launch of the MIA instant payment system, the National Bank has laid the foundation for a true domestic digital revolution and has clearly demonstrated that Moldova can become a regional leader in the digital transformation of finance. We have thus taken a bold step towards a more accessible and interconnected future," said the NBM Governor Anca Dragu. Speaking at the event, Finance Minister Victoria Belous emphasized the role of the MIA platform in improving the efficiency of state revenue collection, reducing operating costs, and improving interaction between citizens and the state. The MIA Instant Payments platform was launched in March 2024 and has since become one of the most popular digital financial solutions. According to the National Bank, one in three Moldovans has used MIA at least once for quick payments or transfers. Since its launch, MIA has registered more than 9 billion transactions made by individuals, totaling more than 8 billion lei. At the same time, exactly one year ago, the National Bank launched P2B (Person to Business), a digital solution for individuals to pay for services and goods from economic agents. In just one year, more than 3,000 companies have used MIA's services through more than 7,000 payment acceptance points across the country. The NBM notes that the number of transactions is constantly growing, and the high rating received from entrepreneurs confirms that MIA has simplified, accelerated, and modernized the payment process in business. // 31.07.2025 — InfoMarket
