Moldova launches a new major ambitious 3-year project - “Moldova is Europe: Support for EU integration”

According to the Permanent Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, the project is part of the European Union's assistance to countries seeking EU accession and is aimed at strengthening the economic, political and social base of candidate countries, easing their path to full EU membership. The project “Moldova is Europe: Support for EU Integration”, fully funded by the European Union and implemented by a consortium of international partners, will cover several strategic areas: governance, rule of law, economic development, safe and sustainable infrastructure, public-oriented education, environmental sustainability. Through technical assistance, training programs, and financial resources, the project will accelerate the process of bringing the candidate country into compliance with EU standards and regulations. The project includes an important initiative to attract motivated and qualified young professionals into public administration by providing them with paid internships in public institutions. In addition, the project will strengthen the capacity of the public administration to implement reforms by improving strategic planning and sector policy development. The project will increase stakeholders' understanding of EU policies, legislation and regulations, and strengthen the administrative and institutional capacity to meet the requirements of the EU accession process and achieve the priorities set out in Moldova's Growth Plan for the development of a competitive market economy. To achieve these objectives, the project engages 13 high-level EU advisors, as well as international and local experts on a medium- and short-term basis to support key public administrations. The launch event was attended by high-ranking EU and Moldovan officials, representatives of state institutions, civil society, mass media and other key figures. Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean emphasized that, through this initiative, the EU not only provides us with financial and technical assistance, but also gives us confidence that Moldova is ready to become an active and responsible member of the big European family. He expressed gratitude, stressing that this support will help Moldova consolidate the rule of law, improve public administration, attract young specialists to public institutions and bring European standards to all the spheres of life. “The launch of the project is a clear demonstration of our shared commitment to a modernized, prosperous and sustainable country. Together with our citizens and partners, we will build a European Moldova - a stronger state that actively contributes to a peaceful future for Europe,” said Dorin Recean. EU Ambassador to Moldova Janis Mazeiks highlighted the importance of the project, emphasizing that, at its core, this initiative aims to support Moldovan institutions in achieving what the public expects from them: to deliver results for Moldovan citizens - transparently, efficiently and in full compliance with EU values and standards. “And the citizens of Moldova have made their views clear. They see their future in the European family,” he said. // 09.04.2025 - InfoMarket
