Government launches 2 local development programs - “Europe is Close” and “European Courtyards”, with a total budget of 600 million lei
The launch of new programs for financing development projects was announced at a press conference on April 8 by Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Vladimir Bolea. Under the “Europe is Close” program, whose initial budget amounts to 500 million lei, the mayoralties will be able to apply for local road construction projects (laying two layers of asphalt concrete or replacing the road layer by milling damaged sections). They will also be able to select sidewalk or bike lane projects using pavement/asphalt concrete. The maximum amount of the project will be 10 million lei, with the amount of financing depending on the size of the population. Thus, small settlements with a population of up to 1,500 people will be able to request financing up to 2 million lei, while those with a population of more than 1,500 people - up to 9 million lei, provided that they contribute 10%. At the same time, the settlements with up to 1,500 inhabitants, which are in the process of voluntary unification, will be able to receive up to 5 million lei. By the end of the year, this program is expected to allow modernizing about 130 km of roads and sidewalks in 100 settlements. The applications for participation in this program are to be submitted from April 8 till May 12 through the information system for the management of regional and local development programs and projects. At the same time, the “European Courtyards” government program was launched in parallel. The program is aimed at modernizing the courtyards of high-rise buildings in Chisinau and its suburbs. The budget of the program is 100 million lei, while one project can receive up to 5 million lei. Within the framework of the program, it is planned to renovate access roads to the courtyards, to improve the urban environment and to organize the lighting of 4-5 yards in each sector of Chisinau and its suburbs. The applications are open from April 8 to April 25. Chisinau condominium owners' associations, other similar entities subject to the provisions of the Law on Condominium, as well as action groups formed by at least 5 owners of apartment buildings, not united in entities subject to the provisions of the Law on Condominium, are allowed to participate.
