Moldova's GDP growth in 2025 is expected to be at 2-3% - Doina Nistor
The new Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization told journalists about this, noting that the Moldovan government managed to maintain economic stability despite external shocks. "We provided assistance to protect purchasing power, and now we are on the path to economic recovery. My vision is a new economy based not only on costs, but also on higher added value, technology and innovation - a sustainable economy. We have a historic chance that the EU provides. Our goal is to benefit from the €1.9 billion Growth Plan as efficiently and quickly as possible. Our priority is to encourage investment in the local economy, integrate into the EU single market and open up global markets to make our economy more competitive, innovative and inclusive. This is not only about the physical market, but also about the digital one, to develop the digital economy and not only that," Doina Nistor said. According to her, our service and information technology industries are growing. “That is why we will increase the number of jobs here in the country. We need to hire more young people, create quality and attractive jobs for them, and encourage them to open start-ups. For 2025, we expect positive GDP dynamics of 2-3%, given the current situation and the unpredictability of geopolitical and climatic conditions,” said the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization. She emphasized that in the short term, policy measures to accelerate growth are associated with increasing overall economic efficiency. “Our economy can grow faster if we use the same labor and capital resources more efficiently and innovatively. In the medium and long term, we will accelerate economic growth by stimulating investment in production and human capital. Public investment included in the Growth Plan will complement private investment and compensate for the higher risks faced by entrepreneurs,” said Doina Nistor. According to her, the authorities constantly support these investments, including through new instruments applied this year, including the state aid mechanism. The state reimburses up to 60% of the cost of new investments by an entrepreneur in one of the key industries in the amount of at least 10 million lei. "We are pleased to announce that the number of applications is increasing, and the total value of investments from the files already submitted is about 400 million lei. Most likely, next week we will announce the first contract between the government and a local company," the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization noted. She emphasized that there are good results. For 4 consecutive quarters in 2024, private investments have been growing steadily. "This means that entrepreneurs are confident that things are going in the right direction. And government support programs give them this confidence. For example, the program of the Entrepreneurship Development Organization "373", which brought in over 3.8 billion lei mobilized in the form of local investments. We are talking about new production facilities, technologies that will yield results this year. We support entrepreneurs so that they invest now, not put it off. We need them and their investments in the economy of tomorrow," said Doina Nistor. // 19.03.2025 — InfoMarket.
