
The European Union will support the modernization of Moldova's transport infrastructure and its connection to the EU transport networks
This was reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, noting that the consolidation of transport infrastructure and the promotion of Moldova's connection to European networks were the central topics of the meeting of the State Secretary of the Ministry Mircea Pascaluţa with the delegation of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE). The main objectives discussed concerned the EU's support in the process of modernizing transport and critical transport infrastructure. Projects in the field of railway infrastructure were discussed, including the development of the European gauge and possible projects that could receive co-financing through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). An important topic of the dialogue was the optimization of border crossing points and the implementation of coordinated controls, as well as the development of rail links between the ports of Reni and Izmail on the Danube. Particular attention was paid to the expansion of the infrastructure of the Giurgiulesti State Port, given its importance in the regional transport network. In addition, the parties discussed investment priorities, as well as technical assistance needs within the framework of the Moldova Growth Plan, which was approved by the European Union.
