Government has endorsed a draft law on setting an increased amount of pensions for people with a labor experience of 40 years and more
At a meeting on 19 February, Government issued a positive opinion on the draft amendments to the law on the state pension system, which stipulates that Government will annually set the amount of the minimum retirement pension for people with an insurance record of at least 40 years. If the calculated amount of the retirement pension for this category of beneficiaries is less than the established minimum amount, they will be granted an increased amount of the minimum pension. This will provide support for pensioners who, although they have more than 40 years of service, receive small pensions due to the low wages they have had throughout their working life. These include people who have worked all their lives in education, agriculture, social assistance and other important sectors of the economy. The government proposes a number of amendments to the draft law and proposes to approve it as soon as possible, in order to have time to amend other normative acts, so that the National Social Insurance Agency could accrue increased pensions to such beneficiaries as early as May 1, 2025. It should be noted that, according to the official data, in early November 2024, 30,505 people with a working experience of 40 years and more received a pension of less than 3,300 lei, including 16,944 people who received a minimum pension of 2,778 lei. In order to increase the minimum retirement pension for beneficiaries with labor experience of 40 years and more, about 57 million lei is to be allocated in the state budget for 2025. //19.02.2025 - InfoMarket
